I know this is late, but I want to make sure we made a post about this year’s Halloween adventures. This year was the first year that Mabel had an opinion on what she would like to be for Halloween. She was very specific and adamant that she wanted to be a scorpion. Yes…a scorpion. Rebecca and I were wondering how we would pull this off, but luckily, they went to the store and found a “Wonder Woman” costume instead. Mabel put it on, and her alter-ego took over.

In the photos, she is making faces and posing as Wonder Woman. The funniest thing, however, is that we didn’t coach her on how Wonder Woman should pose or what faces to make. It’s even funnier when you realize Mabel has no clue who Wonder Woman is – this is all her own doing.

I love Saturday mornings. This is the day where Daddy and Mabel have set aside time to play, read books, cuddle, watch videos or whatever. It’s the time of the week where I feel like I get to catch up on what I miss with her every other day. This video is a conversation between Mabel and Daddy a few days after Mabel rode the bus for the first time in San Francisco. I was particularly intrigued/concerned about the upside down baby (Mabel calls Lego people babies).

We have been working hard to have Family Home Evening every Sunday afternoon with Mabel. The key to success, we have discovered, is to always have a treat! This video captures a typical conversation between Mama and Mabel, and more importantly, the strong bond between them. I love watching them chat, so I figured I’d capture it on video for future reference.

** I didn’t edit it down at all, so it gets pretty long.

It seems like it’s been forever since we last updated this blog. Oh wait! That’s because it has been forever.

It is the end of August and much has happened in the last two months. We are now living in a small apartment in San Francisco. We have debated for some time if it is 600 sq. ft. or 800 sq. ft. – regardless, it feels like an oversized closet with a kitchen. But that hasn’t slowed Mabel down one bit.

This weekend has been particularly crazy for us. In our insane quest to move to San Francisco next month, we have started selling some of our furniture, including the sofa set we got when we first moved to Minneapolis. It is difficult to know how all of this change and “uncertainty” will affect Mabel’s behavior (she was a bit confused about why we were sharing our sofa with our friends) – so in an attempt to give her some comfort, I decided to give her a little home of her own. She seems to like it, as she has proceeded to put many of her more important toys in it. Oh that we could be three again and be perfectly content living in cardboard boxes with our most prized possessions at our sides.
